Molla Abdulkudus Yalçın, Vice President of the Union of Scholars and Madrasahs (ITTİHADUL ULEMA), made powerful remarks regarding the Maghreb "Resilience Convoy" advancing toward the besieged Gaza Strip.

Speaking on the humanitarian convoy that set off from Algeria and gained momentum with the participation of Tunisian activists, Yalçın praised the initiative as more than just an aid mission. “This convoy is not just delivering humanitarian relief — it is the resistance of human conscience,” he said, stressing the moral obligation of Muslims to act against the atrocities being committed in Gaza.

“The persecution in Gaza is a test for humanity’s conscience,” Yalçın declared, denouncing the double standards of the global community. “When a non-Muslim faces harm, the world rises in outrage. But when Muslims are bombed, when their children are killed, there is silence. This hypocrisy can no longer be tolerated.”

Referring to the Resilience Convoy as a moral response to global apathy, Yalçın stated, “This is a wake-up call for the ummah. If governments are silent, if the United Nations fails to act, then civil societies must raise their voices, even with their bare hands and empty pockets. Allah willing, this convoy will break the chains of silence.”

Yalçın emphasized that beyond the political, this is a matter of Islamic brotherhood and humanitarian duty. He lamented the failure of many Muslims to even uphold a basic boycott of Zionist-linked companies, urging that “at least one person awakening through this action is still a victory.”

Criticizing the muted stance of many Islamic scholars globally, Yalçın called on the ulema to take the lead: “May my Lord awaken the Islamic scholars before anyone else. Even if they cannot physically go to Rafah, this oppression must be voiced from every mosque, every home.”

He added that although the World Union of Scholars has grown into a significant body, its voice has been far too faint in the face of such historic injustice. “They’ve declared that jihad against this brutality is obligatory, yet they are unable to be heard. The mainstream media censors them, and many remain bound by their own fears and worldly interests.”

Yalçın asserted that a unified front among the ulema could radically shift the narrative. “If all the scholars united, or if just every imam used their pulpit to speak for Gaza, this oppression could not continue as it is. There are many scholars whose hearts are burning with grief — but scattered pain is not enough. We need collective action.”

Concluding his remarks, Yalçın prayed for the awakening of the ummah and its leaders: “With Allah’s help, a unified voice will be loud enough to reach the corners of the world. May this convoy be a means of reviving the Islamic world’s conscience, and may the ulema — the moral compass of the ummah — lead this awakening.”

The Maghreb Resilience Convoy, which aims to reach the Rafah Border Gate to break the siege on Gaza, has become a powerful symbol of grassroots solidarity across North Africa. While regional governments remain largely silent, this initiative has ignited hope among countless Muslims that civil resistance and international pressure can force change in Gaza’s dire humanitarian situation.
