Man released on bail after arrest over child’s crocodile enclosure incident in England
A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 3-year-old boy ended up in a crocodile enclosure at a zoo in central England has been released on bail, police said on Friday.
Cambridgeshire Police said the suspect was released after being deemed not fit for interview and will remain on bail until 18 September while investigations continue.
The incident took place on Thursday at Johnsons of Old Hurst, a farm and zoo in central England known for housing more than 100 animals, including crocodiles. Emergency staff at the site rescued the child from the enclosure.
The boy is currently in hospital in a critical but stable condition, according to officials. British media reports said a member of staff’s family may have entered the enclosure to help rescue him, though this has not been officially confirmed by police.
Police stated that the man arrested at the scene is not known to the child. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding how the child entered the restricted area.
Following the incident, the zoo said its Tropical House area will remain closed until further notice and expressed sympathy for the injured child and his family. .(ILKHA)
