At least nine people, most of them children، were killed after torrential rains triggered the collapse of mud-roof homes in eastern Afghanistan, with authorities warning that more heavy rainfall is expected in the coming days.
Heavy rainfall in eastern Afghanistan has led to multiple roof collapses, resulting in the deaths of at least nine people.
In Wardak Province, a house roof collapsed on Sunday night, killing a mother and her two children, while two others were injured.
In a separate incident in Nangarhar Province, at least six children lost their lives and seven others were injured over the past 24 hours after heavy rains caused mud-built homes to cave in.
Over the past ten days, severe rainfall and flooding across Afghanistan have left nearly 100 people dead and more than 150 injured, according to available reports.
The national meteorological authority has warned that additional rainfall is expected in several regions within the next 24 hours, raising concerns over further casualties and damage. (ILKHA)
