Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif arrives in Tehran for high-level talks with Iranian leadership

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Tehran on Monday for an official visit at the invitation of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Upon landing at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport, Sharif was warmly welcomed by Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Mo’meni.
The visit, announced by Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry on Friday, aims to strengthen bilateral ties and address key regional and international issues. Sharif is scheduled to hold high-level discussions with senior Iranian officials, including President Pezeshkian, focusing on mutual interests, regional stability, and enhancing cooperation between the two nations.
Mehdi Sanaei, Senior Political Aide to President Pezeshkian, highlighted the deep historical and cultural bonds between Iran and Pakistan in a post on X on Sunday. He noted that the trade volume between the two countries surpassed $3 billion in 2024, underscoring the growing economic partnership. Sanaei also emphasized ongoing consultations between Tehran and Islamabad to promote regional stability.
The Pakistani delegation, led by Sharif, is expected to engage in comprehensive talks to further solidify the longstanding friendship and collaboration between the two neighboring countries. (ILKHA)
