Putin discusses upcoming Ukraine talks with Security Council
Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the upcoming trilateral negotiations on Ukraine with members of Russia's Security Council ahead of planned talks involving Russia, the United States and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi on 10-11 November, the Kremlin said.
The meeting came as preparations continue for the next round of US-mediated diplomatic contacts aimed at addressing the conflict in Ukraine. According to the Kremlin, the Abu Dhabi negotiations will bring together working-level delegations from the three countries to discuss security arrangements, de-escalation, humanitarian issues and possible steps toward a peaceful settlement.
Opening the Security Council meeting, Putin said he had invited members of the Russian delegation due to participate in the Abu Dhabi negotiations to attend the session before their departure.
According to Kremlin footage, Presidential Adviser Vladimir Medinsky, who is expected to head the Russian delegation, was among those present, along with senior officials involved in the diplomatic process.
Putin thanks UAE for facilitating diplomatic efforts
According to the Kremlin, the Security Council also reviewed preparations for the negotiations scheduled for 10-11 November in the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Putin thanked the Emirati leadership for hosting the upcoming talks and for its continued role in facilitating diplomatic and humanitarian efforts related to the Ukraine conflict.
"We are grateful to the leadership of the United Arab Emirates. The UAE has consistently assisted us in efforts related to resolving the Ukraine crisis and addressing humanitarian issues," Putin said.
He noted that the UAE has repeatedly contributed to diplomatic initiatives and humanitarian contacts between the parties, expressing appreciation for its continued support.
Security Council reviews food security alongside Ukraine issue
Putin said the principal agenda of the Security Council meeting was strengthening Russia's food security and ensuring the country's long-term agricultural resilience.
He told council members that issues related to safeguarding and reinforcing Russia's food security would be examined in detail during the session.
Alongside the domestic agenda, Security Council members also discussed preparations for the upcoming negotiations on Ukraine, reflecting the importance Moscow attaches to the Abu Dhabi meeting.
The Kremlin has confirmed that Russia will participate in the 10-11 November talks, with Vladimir Medinsky leading Moscow's delegation. The negotiations are expected to focus on post-war security arrangements, de-escalation measures, humanitarian issues and further diplomatic steps toward ending the conflict.
