The remains of at least 12 Palestinians have been recovered from beneath the rubble of a residential building destroyed in an Israeli bombardment during the war on Gaza, the Palestinian Civil Defense said Saturday.

Defense official Abdullah Majdalawi said rescue teams recovered the remains of 12 civilians from the rubble of a home belonging to the al-Batniji family in the Asqula area of Gaza City's az-Zeitoun neighborhood.

The recovery operation comes as Palestinian emergency and rescue teams continue searching through destroyed residential areas across the Gaza Strip for victims who remain buried beneath collapsed buildings.

Majdalawi said Civil Defense teams had also begun recovering the remains of victims from a home belonging to the al-Maghribi family in the same area.

The recovery efforts highlight the scale of destruction left across Gaza's residential areas, where thousands of buildings have been damaged or completely destroyed during the conflict.

With large sections of Gaza's infrastructure reduced to rubble, Civil Defense crews face major challenges in locating and recovering victims. Limited equipment, damaged roads and the scale of destruction have made search operations particularly difficult.

Despite those challenges, Palestinian rescue teams have intensified efforts to locate the remains of people believed to be trapped beneath destroyed homes.

In recent operations, Civil Defense teams recovered the bodies of 112 Palestinians from the remains of homes belonging to the Abu Shari'ah and Hasayna families, according to the service.

The continued discovery of victims months after buildings were destroyed underscores the enduring human toll of the Israeli military campaign on Gaza's civilian population.

Civil Defense teams say search and recovery operations will continue across destroyed neighborhoods as crews work to locate those still missing and return their remains to their families. (ILKHA)
