Russian Defense Ministry reports over 1,200 Ukrainian troop losses in one day
The Russian Defense Ministry released its daily operational bulletin on Sunday, claiming that Ukrainian forces suffered approximately 1,235 casualties across multiple sectors of the special military operation zone over the past 24 hours.
The report details intense engagements involving all six of Russia’s primary tactical formations—Battlegroups North, West, South, Center, East, and Dnepr—targeting Ukrainian mechanized, assault, and territorial defense brigades along a broad arc from the Sumy and Kharkov regions to the Donetsk and Zaporozhye fronts.
According to the bulletin, Ukraine reportedly lost more than 175 personnel in the area of responsibility of Battlegroup North, up to 210 in the West, up to 160 in the South, up to 320 in the Center, over 330 in the East, and up to 40 in the Dnepr sector.
The Russian Defense Ministry also claimed that Ukrainian military units, including mechanized brigades, assault formations, territorial defense units, and National Guard elements, were engaged in various locations across the frontlines.
The report further stated that significant amounts of Ukrainian military equipment were destroyed or disabled, including armored vehicles, infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled artillery systems, electronic warfare units, and dozens of military transport vehicles.
Among the equipment cited was a Polish-made “Krab” 155 mm self-propelled howitzer, as well as Western-supplied armored personnel carriers, according to the Russian account.
Battlegroup North was said to have struck positions in Ukraine’s Sumy and Kharkiv regions, while Battlegroup West reported engagements in areas of Kharkiv and territories in the Donetsk region.
Battlegroup South reportedly targeted Ukrainian forces in several locations within the Donetsk region, while Battlegroup Center claimed strikes on a wide range of Ukrainian formations across Donetsk and parts of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
Battlegroup East and Dnepr operations were also reported in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, where Russian forces said they targeted Ukrainian mechanized and assault units, as well as unmanned systems brigades.
The Russian Defense Ministry regularly publishes battlefield assessments that include casualty estimates and equipment losses, though these figures cannot be independently verified.
Fighting continues across multiple fronts in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, now in its third year, with both sides reporting heavy engagements and disputed accounts of battlefield developments. (ILKHA)
