Stabbing at North Forsyth High School leaves 1 student dead, another injured
A student was killed and another seriously injured in a stabbing attack at North Forsyth High School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, prompting heightened security measures and an ongoing criminal investigation.
According to U.S. media reports, including ABC-affiliated WTVD, the incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. when school resource officers called for urgent backup following an altercation between two students. Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough stated that officers responded immediately but were unable to prevent the loss of life.
Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Superintendent Don Phipps informed families that one student had died while another sustained injuries. Authorities later confirmed that the injured student was treated in a hospital and discharged.
In a statement shared on the social platform X, North Carolina Governor Josh Stein described the event as “shocking and horrible,” offering condolences and prayers for the students and their families.
In line with the heightened security protocols announced after the attack, the school will remain closed on Wednesday. A crisis response team has been assigned to provide psychological support for students and staff when classes resume.
