Türkiye condemns attack on UNISFA logistics base in Sudan
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned an attack targeting the logistics base of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) in Sudan, underscoring Ankara’s continued support for peace and stability in the war-torn country.
In a written statement issued on Monday, the ministry denounced the assault on the UNISFA facility located in Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan state, describing the incident as a heinous attack against international peacekeeping forces.
“We condemn the attack on the logistics base of the UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) in Kadugli,” the statement said. “We wish Allah’s mercy upon the Bangladeshi peacekeepers who lost their lives in this heinous attack, and a speedy recovery to the wounded.”
The ministry emphasized the critical role played by UN peacekeeping missions in maintaining security and protecting civilians in conflict-affected regions, noting that attacks against such forces undermine international efforts to restore peace.
Ankara also reaffirmed its principled stance on Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, calling for an end to the violence that has gripped the country.
“We emphasize the importance of preserving the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan, and reiterate our strong support for the efforts aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the ongoing conflicts in the country,” the statement added.
Sudan has been mired in conflict and instability, with repeated attacks posing serious challenges to humanitarian operations and international peacekeeping missions. Türkiye has consistently called for dialogue and inclusive political solutions, while expressing readiness to support international and regional initiatives aimed at ending the crisis and restoring lasting peace in Sudan.
