Türkiye's Fidan, Iran's Araghchi discuss Hormuz Strait, ceasefire talks
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss the latest developments in negotiations on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and efforts to preserve the ceasefire.
According to Turkish Foreign Ministry sources, the two ministers exchanged views on the current status of diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and maintaining the ceasefire.
The call came as diplomatic contacts continue over efforts to reduce regional tensions and secure progress in negotiations concerning maritime security and the ceasefire.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most important maritime chokepoints, carrying a substantial share of global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments. Any disruption to shipping through the waterway can have significant implications for international energy markets and global trade.
Türkiye has continued diplomatic engagement with regional countries since tensions escalated, emphasizing dialogue and negotiation as the primary means of preserving regional stability and ensuring freedom of navigation.(ILKHA)
