UN: Israeli blockade continues to obstruct life-saving aid to Gaza

The United Nations has raised alarm over the continued obstruction of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip by Israeli occupation authorities, with no significant deliveries reaching the besieged enclave for nearly two months.
Speaking during a press briefing on Wednesday, Stephanie Tremblay, Deputy Spokesperson for UN Secretary-General António Guterres, underscored the critical urgency of resuming uninterrupted humanitarian access.
“Humanitarian aid has not entered Gaza for almost two months,” Tremblay stated, describing the situation as dire. She emphasized that aid operations must be allowed to continue without delay to avert further catastrophe.
Tremblay revealed that Israeli occupation forces permitted only two of six planned humanitarian aid convoys to proceed on Tuesday, further highlighting the obstacles facing relief efforts. The limited access has severely hampered the ability of humanitarian workers to operate effectively within Gaza.
“These restrictions not only jeopardize aid delivery but also block medical supplies from reaching hospitals,” Tremblay warned, noting that the ongoing blockade is endangering the lives of thousands of patients across the Strip.
Since March 2, Israel has effectively shut all key crossings into Gaza, cutting off essential deliveries of food, water, and medicine. The UN says this has intensified what was already a catastrophic humanitarian situation, deepening famine conditions and pushing Gaza's civilian population to the brink.
The international community continues to call for urgent action to lift the blockade and ensure the immediate and safe passage of humanitarian aid, as concerns mount over the growing number of deaths from hunger, disease, and untreated injuries in the war-ravaged territory. (ILKHA)
