UNRWA: Israeli aggression sparks largest displacement in West Bank since 1967

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has sounded the alarm over the escalating Israeli aggression in the northern West Bank, warning that the situation has triggered the most severe wave of displacement since the Nakba of 1967.
In a grim update, UNRWA revealed that relentless Israeli military operations have caused widespread destruction and uprooted tens of thousands of Palestinians from their homes. The agency reported that refugee camps and civilian neighborhoods across Jenin, Tulkarm, Tubas, and Nablus have borne the brunt of the occupation’s aggression since January 21.
“The situation in the northern West Bank remains extremely worrying,” UNRWA stated, noting that the Israeli occupation forces have resorted to systematic demolition, forced displacement, and sweeping orders to destroy Palestinian homes, leading to severe humanitarian consequences.
More than 40,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced, while dozens have been martyred or injured, including children and women. Hundreds of homes and vital infrastructure have been destroyed, compounding the suffering of already vulnerable communities.
Despite the devastation, UNRWA affirmed its commitment to stand by the Palestinian people. The agency, in coordination with its humanitarian partners, continues to provide emergency relief, including psychosocial support, mobile health clinics, and online learning platforms for displaced children whose education has been disrupted.
The escalating Israeli campaign in the West Bank follows months of brutal occupation-led assaults across Palestinian territories, as the regime continues its war on Gaza and intensifies its military presence in areas of resistance in the West Bank.
Human rights organizations have condemned the campaign as collective punishment and a flagrant violation of international law, accusing the Israeli regime of carrying out ethnic cleansing aimed at erasing the Palestinian presence from their land.
As the humanitarian crisis deepens, calls are growing louder for international intervention to halt the occupation’s crimes and protect the Palestinian people from further dispossession and suffering. (ILKHA)
