US airstrike kills senior ISIS leader in Syria, CENTCOM says
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Wednesday that its forces killed a senior Daesh (ISIS) member in a recent airstrike conducted in northwestern Syria.
According to a CENTCOM statement, the militant killed in the operation was identified as Ali Hussein al-Ulaywi, a senior Daesh figure. The strike was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to target the group's remaining leadership and operational networks in the region.
CENTCOM Commander General Brad Cooper said US forces would continue working with regional partners to disrupt and neutralize Daesh elements that remain active in Syria and neighboring areas.
The announcement was made by CENTCOM, while further independent details regarding al-Ulaywi's role within the organization were not immediately available. (ILKHA)
