Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, has stated that the era of American global hegemony is over, asserting that the world is now moving towards a more equitable international system.

In an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Velayati provided a historical analysis, tracing the roots of U.S. power to 15th-century European colonialism, which he said formed the basis for what he described as America's own "imperialistic policies." He asserted that the United States was founded on principles of "racial discrimination and colonialism."

"After World War II, the US attempted to position itself as the sole global power. However, this notion was quickly challenged by emerging nations rejecting unilateral US dominance," Velayati was quoted as saying.

The senior advisor pointed to the resurgence of Russia under President Vladimir Putin and the rise of China as pivotal forces reshaping the global balance of power, highlighting strategic alliances like BRICS as evidence of a multipolar world taking shape.

He argued that the United States is now facing a "legitimacy crisis" not only in West Asia but also in Latin America and East Asia as it attempts to expand its influence. Velayati specifically criticized the foreign policy of the former Trump administration, particularly regarding Palestine, emphasizing that "the rights of the Palestinian people are non-negotiable."

According to Velayati, Washington's strategic goals include dominating regional energy supplies and trade routes. He claimed the U.S. is increasing pressure on Pakistan and India to maintain its presence and is seeking new military bases near the strategic ports of Gwadar and Chabahar to counter China's influence.

In this shifting global landscape, Velayati positioned Iran as a cornerstone of the emerging order. He asserted that the Islamic Republic, as an "independent and influential nation, plays a crucial role in the new global order based on justice and cooperation," standing firm against imperialism and supporting resistance movements.
