Türkiye records significant increase in vehicle registrations in July

The Turkish Statistical Institute announced on Wednesday that 276,615 road motor vehicles were registered in July, marking a notable increase in vehicle registrations across the country.
Motorcycles accounted for the largest share of new registrations, making up 46.9% of the total. Cars followed at 39.4%, with small trucks at 8.5%, tractors at 2.6%, trucks at 1.7%, minibuses at 0.6%, buses at 0.2%, and special-purpose vehicles at 0.1%.
The number of road motor vehicle registrations in July increased by 39.3% compared to the previous month. Notably, the registration of minibuses surged by 106.6%, trucks by 99.2%, small trucks by 76.9%, buses by 56.1%, cars by 43.7%, motorcycles by 30.3%, tractors by 18.3%, and special-purpose vehicles by 1.4%.
Year-on-year, vehicle registrations in July saw a 19.1% increase. Registrations of minibuses rose by 123.7%, buses by 47.0%, special-purpose vehicles by 41.4%, motorcycles by 27.9%, trucks by 23.3%, cars by 13.5%, and small trucks by 8.3%. However, tractor registrations decreased by 8.7%.
As of the end of July, the total number of registered road motor vehicles in Türkiye reached 30,261,176. Cars represented the majority at 52.3%, followed by motorcycles at 19.0%, small trucks at 15.3%, tractors at 7.4%, trucks at 3.3%, minibuses at 1.7%, buses at 0.7%, and special-purpose vehicles at 0.3%.
In July, a total of 957,920 road motor vehicles were transferred to new owners. Cars accounted for 64.9% of these transfers, followed by small trucks at 14.7%, motorcycles at 13.5%, tractors at 2.7%, trucks at 1.8%, minibuses at 1.7%, buses at 0.5%, and special-purpose vehicles at 0.2%.
Additionally, 108,907 new cars were registered in July. Among the newly registered cars, Renault led with a 10.4% share, followed by Fiat (9.3%), Volkswagen (8.1%), Chery (7.2%), Citroën (6.1%), Peugeot (6.0%), Hyundai (5.0%), Opel (4.8%), Toyota (4.7%), and MG (4.5%). Other brands made up the remaining 8.8% of the total.
From January to July, a total of 1,537,616 road motor vehicles were registered, reflecting a 19.2% increase compared to the same period last year. During the same period, 16,506 vehicles were withdrawn from registration, resulting in a net increase of 1,521,110 vehicles.
Among the 617,708 cars registered in the first seven months of the year, 65.2% were gasoline-fueled, 13.1% were hybrids, 12.4% were diesel-fueled, 8.3% were electric, and 1.0% were LPG-fueled. At the end of July, diesel cars made up 34.7% of all registered cars, followed by LPG-fueled cars at 32.4%, gasoline-fueled cars at 29.8%, hybrids at 1.9%, and electric cars at 0.8%.
Of the cars registered from January to July, 32.3% had engine sizes of 1300cc or less, 22.1% had 1401-1500cc engines, 17.5% had 1301-1400cc engines, 13.3% had 1501-1600cc engines, 5.8% had 1601-2000cc engines, and 0.7% had engines larger than 2001cc.
Gray was the most popular car color during the January-July period, with 38.7% of new registrations. White cars accounted for 25.5%, black for 13.0%, blue for 11.3%, red for 6.3%, green for 2.8%, orange for 0.9%, yellow for 0.6%, brown for 0.4%, and other colors for 0.4%.
