Türkiye sees strong growth in construction activity in Q3 2025, TurkStat reports
Türkiye’s construction sector recorded significant expansion in the third quarter of 2025, with building permits and occupancy permits showing sharp year-on-year increases, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
Compared with the same period last year, the number of buildings granted construction permits rose by 22.3%, the number of dwelling units by 54.0%, and the total floor area by 42.6%.
Municipalities issued 78.0% of the total permitted floor area, while other authorized bodies accounted for the remaining 22.0%.
Residential buildings with two or more dwellings made up the largest share of construction permit floor area, totaling 37.8 million square meters. Industrial buildings and warehouses followed with 6.2 million square meters.
The number of buildings granted occupancy permits increased by 5.6% year-on-year in Q3 2025, while dwelling units and total floor area both rose by 22.8%.
Municipalities also dominated occupancy approvals, issuing 79.4% of the total floor area, compared to 20.6% by other administrative bodies.
Residential buildings with two or more dwellings again led the category, with a floor area of 21.5 million square meters, followed by industrial buildings and warehouses at 4.7 million square meters.
Calendar-adjusted figures indicated notable annual gains, with the number of buildings rising by 19.9%, the number of dwelling units increasing by 51.7%, and the total floor area of buildings granted construction permits growing by 40.9%.
Seasonally and calendar adjusted data, however, showed a quarter-on-quarter slowdown. Compared with Q2 2025, the number of buildings decreased by 7.0%, dwelling units by 7.2%, and floor area by 2.7%.
Calendar-adjusted occupancy permit data showed increases of 3.2% in building numbers, 20.1% in dwelling units, and 20.4% in floor area compared with Q3 2024.
Seasonally and calendar adjusted results indicated a mixed quarterly picture: the number of buildings and dwelling units granted occupancy permits fell by 2.7% and 0.5% respectively, while the total floor area rose by 3.7%.
The latest figures point to sustained momentum in Türkiye’s construction sector despite quarterly fluctuations, with strong demand for multi-unit residential buildings continuing to drive growth. (ILKHA)
