Türkiye targets 175 GW of installed wind and solar capacity by 2035
Türkiye aims to increase its combined installed wind and solar power capacity to 175 gigawatts (GW) under its National Energy 2035 Vision, with plans to attract $100 billion in new investments to accelerate the country's clean energy transition.
The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources outlined the targets as part of its long-term strategy to expand renewable energy production, strengthen energy security and support sustainable economic growth.
Wind and solar capacity set for major expansion
Under the National Energy 2035 Vision, installed solar power capacity is planned to increase from the current 26 GW to 112 GW, while installed wind power capacity is expected to rise from 15 GW to 63 GW.
The combined installed capacity of the two renewable energy sources will therefore increase from 41 GW to 175 GW, representing an expansion of more than four times the current level.
The ministry said the planned increase would significantly strengthen Türkiye's renewable energy infrastructure and reduce dependence on conventional energy sources.
$100 billion investment planned under National Energy 2035
To achieve the 2035 target, the government plans to mobilise approximately $100 billion in new investments in renewable energy projects and related infrastructure.
The ministry said the investment programme is intended to accelerate Türkiye's transition to cleaner energy while supporting long-term energy security and increasing the share of renewable resources in the national electricity system.
Officials also described the National Energy 2035 Vision as a key pillar of Türkiye's long-term energy strategy, aimed at positioning the country as a regional leader in renewable energy development.(ILKHA)

The country's new energy roadmap envisages 281 GW of total installed capacity, $190 billion in investment and a major expansion of wind, solar and nuclear power.
Türkiye’s annual consumer inflation fell by 3.1 percentage points to 29.8 percent, with the disinflation process spreading across most major categories, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek said.
Türkiye's goods exports reached a record high for October, rising 8.1% year-on-year to $25.9 billion, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat said on Tuesday, as the country's annualized exports surpassed the government's target.
