Türkiye's economic confidence index rises 0.7% to 101.3 in September
Türkiye's economic confidence index rose 0.7% month-on-month to 101.3 in September from 100.6 in August, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Tuesday.
The increase reflected improvements in consumer confidence, manufacturing industry sentiment and retail trade confidence, while services confidence remained unchanged and construction confidence declined slightly.
The consumer confidence index rose 1.3% in September to 91.9, TurkStat said.
The real sector confidence index, which measures sentiment in the manufacturing industry, increased 0.1% to 102.5.
The services confidence index remained unchanged at 111.9.
The retail trade confidence index rose 1.1% to 111.3, while the construction confidence index fell 0.2% to 83.0 compared with the previous month.
The economic confidence index is designed to provide an overall assessment of economic activity by combining confidence indicators from consumers and several key sectors of the economy.
An index reading above 100 generally indicates an optimistic outlook for economic activity, while a reading below 100 points to a more pessimistic assessment.
The September reading therefore remained above the 100-point threshold, indicating an overall positive level of economic confidence despite mixed developments across individual sectors. (ILKHA)
