HÜDA PAR Leader pays congratulations visit to newly appointed President of Religious Affairs
HÜDA PAR (Free Cause Party) Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu paid a formal visit to Safi Arpaguş on Tuesday, following the latter's recent appointment as the President of Türkiye's Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet).
The meeting, held at the Diyanet headquarters in Ankara, served as a courtesy call where Yapıoğlu personally conveyed his congratulations and wishes for success to the new religious head.
According to a statement released by HÜDA PAR, Chairman Yapıcıoğlu expressed his hope that Arpaguş’s tenure would be marked by beneficial and fruitful service to the nation in the critical field of religious affairs. The visit underscores the ongoing engagement between political leadership and the state’s primary religious institution.
Yapıcıoğlu was accompanied by a party delegation including HÜDA PAR Gaziantep MP Şahzade Demir and the party's Head of Foreign Relations, Hüseyin İmir. The details of the closed-door discussion were not disclosed, in line with standard protocol for such visits.
Safi Arpaguş, a faculty member at Ankara University's Faculty of Divinity, was appointed to the role earlier this month. The visit from HÜDA PAR’s leadership is part of a series of congratulatory meetings Arpaguş has received since assuming the prominent position, which oversees Islamic religious services and guidance for the country's Muslim community.
The Presidency of Religious Affairs is a constitutionally established institution that holds significant social and administrative influence, managing matters from mosque operations to public religious guidance. Engagements with political leaders are seen as a routine part of the transition process for a new Diyanet president. (ILKHA)
