The Palestine Convoy, which set out from Srebrenica in Bosnia and Herzegovina to draw attention to the ongoing Israeli assault on Palestine and call for an end to the blockade on Gaza, received an enthusiastic welcome from the people of Diyarbakır.

The convoy began its journey in Bosnia and Herzegovina and traveled through Albania and Greece before entering Türkiye. After visiting Edirne, Istanbul, Sakarya, Ankara, Adana, Gaziantep and Şanlıurfa, the convoy arrived in Diyarbakır, its latest stop on a journey aimed at raising awareness of the humanitarian crisis in Palestine.

Diyarbakır residents welcome convoy

The convoy was greeted by large crowds at the 12th kilometer of the Diyarbakır-Şanlıurfa highway. Residents gathered along the road carrying Palestinian flags and banners, expressing their solidarity with the Palestinian people and their support for the cause of Jerusalem.

The convoy then began a tour of the city, traveling through some of Diyarbakır’s main roads and neighborhoods.

It proceeded along Şanlıurfa Boulevard before continuing via Mahabad Boulevard, Diclekent Boulevard, Tesisler, Bayramoğlu, Koşuyolu, Akkoyunlu Street, İstasyon Street, Urfa Gate and Turistik Street, eventually reaching Mardin Gate.

Large numbers of residents lined the route as the convoy passed through Diyarbakır’s four central districts. People waved Palestinian flags and warmly welcomed the participants, creating a powerful display of solidarity with Gaza and Palestine.

The enthusiastic reception demonstrated once again the strong support for the Palestinian cause among the people of Diyarbakır, a city known for its historic connection to Islamic heritage and its reverence for Jerusalem.

Program continues at Grand Mosque

The Diyarbakır program will continue with various activities following the afternoon prayer at the historic Ulu Camii (Grand Mosque), one of the city’s most important Islamic landmarks and traditionally regarded as the fifth sacred sanctuary of Islam.

The convoy’s visit to Diyarbakır is scheduled to conclude with a press statement following the night prayer.

From Srebrenica to Palestine

The Palestine Convoy began its journey in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the stated aim of drawing international attention to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine and calling for an end to the blockade on Gaza.
