Türkiye, Canada to upgrade ties to strategic partnership during Carney visit
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney will visit Türkiye on Oct. 22–23 at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, with the two countries expected to elevate their relations to the level of a strategic partnership, Türkiye’s Communications Director Burhanettin Duran said Wednesday.
Duran described the visit as a historic milestone in bilateral relations, saying the two sides would review their existing cooperation and discuss ways to further strengthen ties.
The talks will also cover current regional and global developments, while the two countries are expected to sign agreements in several areas of bilateral cooperation, he said.
The planned upgrade to a strategic partnership is expected to mark a new phase in Türkiye-Canada relations, as Ankara and Ottawa seek to expand cooperation and deepen their engagement on shared interests. (ILKHA)
