HÜDA PAR Chairman demands systemic accountability in corruption cases
HÜDA PAR General Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu has called for accountability in corruption cases, justice for disadvantaged groups and stronger unity among Muslims, stressing that a society cannot achieve lasting peace and prosperity without justice, moral values and social solidarity.
Addressing the party’s 5th Ordinary Şanlıurfa Provincial Congress, Yapıcıoğlu said anyone involved in the misuse of public funds must be held accountable, regardless of their political affiliation, position or status. He called for transparent investigations and urged the authorities to ensure that those responsible face justice.
Yapıcıoğlu condemns continued Israeli attacks on Gaza
Turning to the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, Yapıcıoğlu condemned the Israeli occupation regime’s continued attacks and restrictions on humanitarian aid, saying that the suffering of Palestinians must not be forgotten.
He drew attention to the dire conditions facing displaced Palestinians as winter approaches, citing reports that heavy rainfall had flooded approximately 70,000 tents. He stressed that Palestinians are being forced to endure severe humanitarian conditions while essential assistance remains obstructed.
Yapıcıoğlu also called for greater unity among Muslim countries, criticizing governments that continue to maintain economic and diplomatic relations with Israel despite its ongoing actions against the Palestinian people.
He emphasized that solidarity with Palestine must go beyond statements of support and be reflected in concrete steps to defend the rights and dignity of Palestinians.
Peace requires justice and brotherhood
Addressing the Kurdish issue and the ongoing “Terror-Free Türkiye” process, Yapıcıoğlu said lasting peace cannot be established through disarmament alone. He argued that genuine reconciliation requires justice, equality and brotherhood.
He recalled that HÜDA PAR had submitted a report and draft legislation to Parliament, advocating a comprehensive legal framework to address the issue. Referring to a proposed 12-article framework law that received 467 votes, he said the process must be supported by meaningful reforms and a commitment to resolving longstanding grievances.
Calls for economic justice and protection of pensioners
Yapıcıoğlu also criticized the rising cost of living and the economic difficulties facing low-income households, pensioners and workers.
He argued that the lowest pension should not fall below the minimum wage and that the minimum wage must be sufficient to keep families above the hunger threshold.
Criticizing an economic system that places financial burdens on ordinary citizens while allocating enormous resources to interest payments, he cited figures showing that interest expenditure was projected to reach 2.825 trillion Turkish liras in 2026 and 3.975 trillion liras in 2027.
He called for an economic approach that prioritizes production, social welfare and the needs of ordinary people rather than allowing interest payments and financial pressures to deepen inequality.
Farmers in Şanlıurfa face mounting challenges
Highlighting agricultural problems in Şanlıurfa, Yapıcıoğlu pointed to high electricity bills, power cuts, irrigation difficulties and the challenges faced by seasonal agricultural workers.
He criticized the difficulties farmers encounter in accessing reliable irrigation and affordable electricity, calling for solutions that would allow agricultural producers to work under fairer conditions.
His proposals included completing irrigation projects, expanding agricultural industrial facilities and creating local employment opportunities to ensure that the region's agricultural potential benefits its people.
Support for families and a new civilian constitution
Yapıcıoğlu also expressed concern over declining birth rates and the challenges facing families, proposing measures to encourage larger families, including tax-free vehicle purchases and access to TOKİ housing for households with three or more children.
He additionally proposed retirement rights for women who have completed 25 years of marriage, presenting the measure as part of broader efforts to strengthen families and recognize women's contributions to family life.
Calling for a new civilian constitution, Yapıcıoğlu said Türkiye must move beyond the political and legal legacy of the 1980 military coup and establish a constitutional framework based on the people's will, fundamental rights and justice.
Faruk Polat re-elected
During the congress, Faruk Polat was re-elected as HÜDA PAR's Şanlıurfa provincial chairman after running as the sole candidate. He received all valid votes cast.
The congress brought together party members and supporters to discuss political, social and economic issues, with Yapıcıoğlu reiterating the party's calls for justice, social responsibility, family values and solidarity with oppressed peoples. (ILKHA)
