Türkiye to host 2026 NATO Summit in Ankara
Türkiye will host the NATO Summit in Ankara on July 7-8, 2026, according to statements issued on Feb. 18 marking the 74th anniversary of the country’s membership in the Alliance.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye said Türkiye continues to make “critical and comprehensive contributions” to Euro-Atlantic security through its strong armed forces, advanced military capabilities, and dynamic defense industry.
The ministry noted that within the framework of its leading role in the Alliance, Ankara will host the upcoming NATO Summit in early July.
International reports dated Feb. 18, 2026, also confirmed that the 2026 summit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization will be held in the Turkish capital, bringing together heads of state and government from allied countries.
The summit is expected to address key security challenges facing the Alliance, including regional instability, defense spending commitments, deterrence posture, and evolving global security dynamics.
Türkiye, which joined NATO in 1952, has remained one of the Alliance’s largest military contributors and has played active roles in missions spanning from the Balkans to Afghanistan. Hosting the 2026 summit is seen as a significant diplomatic milestone, reflecting Ankara’s continued strategic position within NATO’s security architecture.
