11th Scholars’ Meeting enters final session in Diyarbakır
The 11th Scholars’ Meeting, organized by the Union of Scholars and Madrasas (İTTİHADUL ULEMA), is continuing in Diyarbakır on its second and final day, bringing together Islamic scholars, academics and preachers from Türkiye and several countries.
Held under the theme “Methodology in Da‘wah and New Horizons,” the two-day gathering focused on Islamic outreach, unity within the Muslim ummah and new approaches to conveying the message of Islam.
The meeting began at the Salahaddin Ayyubi Mosque Conference Hall in Diyarbakır’s central Yenişehir district. Participants included officials from HAMAS and scholars and preachers from Türkiye, Palestine, Syria, Afghanistan, Egypt, Tunisia, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and other regions.
The gathering aims to assess the current state of da‘wah efforts across the Islamic world, examine the challenges facing Islamic outreach workers and explore new methods suited to contemporary needs.
Final session focuses on raising a new Islamic generation
The second day opened with a Qur’an recitation by Qari Sufyan Abdulkadir El Kurdi from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, followed by welcoming speeches.
The third and final session, titled “Building the Islamic Generation through the Lens of Da‘wah,” featured presentations on the ethical responsibilities of Islamic outreach workers, the training of preachers, child education and the challenges posed by digital addiction.
Dr. Kawa Abu Cafer addressed “Ethics and Representation in Da‘wah,” while Mehmet Emin Özmen discussed “Methodology in Training Preachers According to the Needs of the Age: The Example of Mawlana Khalid al-Shahrazuri.”
Dr. Shirvan Karem Rashid examined “Digital Addiction, Child Education, and Proposed Solutions,” and Dr. İbrahim Sengeseri spoke on “Transmitting the Spirit of Da‘wah to New Generations.”
The meeting is scheduled to conclude with the presentation of a final declaration outlining the participants’ recommendations on Islamic outreach, Muslim unity and the education of future generations. (ILKHA)
