At least 27 killed, dozens injured in Bangkok bar fire
A massive fire swept through a bar in Bangkok late Sunday, killing at least 27 people and leaving another 63 injured.
The blaze erupted at a venue in the city's Chatuchak district, prompting a large-scale response from firefighters and emergency personnel. Rescue teams evacuated patrons from the building as crews worked to bring the fire under control.
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who visited the scene, said 27 people had lost their lives in the fire, while dozens of injured victims were transported to nearby hospitals. Authorities said 22 of the injured remain in critical condition.
Initial findings suggest the fire may have started near the venue's electrical system before rapidly spreading through the building. Investigators are also examining whether blocked emergency exits may have hindered evacuation efforts.
Police, forensic officials, and fire investigators have launched a full investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and assess whether the establishment complied with fire safety regulations.
The deadly incident is among the worst fire tragedies in Bangkok in recent years. (ILKHA)
