At least five Palestinians were killed and several others injured on Tuesday evening following an Israeli airstrike targeting the Al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City.
Local sources reported that an Israeli drone struck a group of civilians gathered near a power generator in the camp. The attack resulted in five fatalities and left at least 11 others wounded.
The latest strike brings the total number of Palestinians killed across the Gaza Strip in a single day to 11.
Earlier on Tuesday, four Palestinians—including a police officer and a child—were killed when an Israeli strike targeted a police vehicle on Al-Nafaq Street in Gaza City. Several others were reported injured in the attack.
In a separate incident, a teenage boy was killed after being shot by Israeli forces in the Halawa area of Jabalia, in northern Gaza.
On Wednesday, Israeli forces were reported to have continued military operations across Gaza, marking what local sources described as the 188th consecutive day of ceasefire violations.
Witnesses said Israeli military vehicles opened fire in areas south of Khan Yunis, while artillery shelling struck eastern parts of Khan Yunis and Gaza City. Heavy tank fire was also reported east of Jabalia, alongside shelling in the eastern areas of Al-Bureij refugee camp and Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.
The attacks were accompanied by intense gunfire from Israeli military positions, heightening fears among civilians already facing dire humanitarian conditions.
The escalation comes despite a ceasefire agreement brokered on October 10, 2025. Local sources say violations of the truce have been reported on a near-daily basis.
Since October 7, 2023, Gaza has endured a devastating conflict marked by widespread destruction, displacement, and significant loss of civilian life. International calls for a halt to hostilities, including rulings and appeals from global institutions, have yet to produce a lasting cessation of violence.
Observers warn that continued military actions risk further undermining the already fragile ceasefire and worsening the humanitarian crisis in the territory. (ILKHA)
