China warns Japan of ‘crushing defeat’ over Taiwan remarks
Beijing issues stern warning after Japanese Prime Minister’s statements, highlighting risks of military intervention in Taiwan.
The Chinese government has issued a strong warning to Japan, declaring that any attempt to intervene militarily in the Taiwan issue would result in a crushing defeat by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and carry severe consequences for Tokyo.
The statement came after Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi spoke in parliament last week, suggesting that an attack by China on Taiwan could constitute a “vital threat” to regional security and potentially trigger a Japanese military response.
Responding, the Chinese Ministry of National Defense and its spokesperson Jiang Bin criticized Takaichi’s comments as highly irresponsible and dangerous. “Should the Japanese side fail to draw lessons from history and dare to take a risk, or even use force to interfere in the Taiwan question, it will only suffer a crushing defeat against the steel-willed People’s Liberation Army and pay a heavy price.” Jiang said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China echoed the warning, stating that Takaichi’s remarks constitute gross interference in China’s internal affairs and a violation of the One-China Principle. The ministry emphasized that any foreign attempt to meddle in Taiwan would be firmly resisted, reflecting Beijing’s uncompromising stance on the sovereignty of its territory.
This latest diplomatic escalation has significantly increased tensions between Beijing and Tokyo, coming at a time of heightened regional sensitivities. Analysts note that the PLA has been conducting routine military exercises near the Taiwan Strait, underscoring China’s preparedness to respond decisively to perceived external threats.
The warning represents the strongest official statement by Chinese authorities in recent weeks regarding Japan’s role in the Taiwan issue, and it has drawn international attention to the delicate balance of security and diplomacy in East Asia.(ILKHA)
