Four people were injured in a series of explosions early Monday at a site belonging to the Syrian Arab Army in the al-Hadaba area west of al-Eis in the southern Aleppo countryside, according to a preliminary toll reported by Syria’s state news agency SANA.

The explosions prompted Civil Defense teams to evacuate nearby homes and close roads leading to the site as authorities worked to secure the area and assess the incident.

A SANA reporter said an initial explosion occurred at a Syrian Arab Army site near the town of al-Eis. Authorities were investigating the circumstances and nature of the blast.

Faisal Mohammad Ali, commander of Aleppo operations at the Directorate of Emergency and Disaster Management, said continuing explosions initially prevented ambulances and rescue teams from reaching the affected site.

Civil Defense teams were later able to enter the area and evacuate four injured people, while emergency personnel continued efforts to evacuate residents from nearby homes and restrict access to the site.

Aleppo’s Internal Security Forces placed their personnel on alert and closed the Aleppo-Damascus highway, along with roads leading to the site, as a precautionary measure.

Aleppo Governor Azzam al-Gharib called on residents to remain indoors and avoid approaching or gathering near the affected area. He said hospitals, ambulances and emergency services had been placed on standby, while urging residents to rely on official sources for information and refrain from circulating unconfirmed reports.

The Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management also warned residents of al-Eis and surrounding areas against approaching the site because of the potential presence of shrapnel, unexploded ordnance and other hazardous materials.

The ministry's Early Warning and Preparedness Department advised residents to move to a safe location where possible, provided they could do so without exposing themselves to further danger. It also urged residents to keep roads clear for emergency and rescue teams.

Those unable to leave safely were advised to shelter inside buildings and remain away from windows, doors, glass, rooftops and other exposed areas.

Authorities stressed that the end of the explosions would not necessarily mean that the danger had passed, warning that unexploded ordnance and other hazardous objects could remain at the site.

Residents were therefore urged not to return to evacuated areas until authorities officially declare them safe. (ILKHA)
