At least 37 people have been killed in Pakistan after days of heavy monsoon rains triggered flash floods, landslides and other weather-related incidents across several provinces, authorities said.
The latest spell of rain, which began on July 19, has affected Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, damaging homes, roads and farmland while disrupting transport in several areas.
Provincial authorities said 20 people were killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 17 in Punjab. The fatalities were linked to flash floods, landslides, lightning strikes, electrocution and rain-related structural collapses.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rainfall is expected to continue in parts of the country, increasing the risk of further flooding and landslides.
Residents in vulnerable areas have been urged to remain alert and follow evacuation and safety instructions issued by local authorities.(ILKHA)
