Hezbollah MP: Lebanon will never surrender its dignity to Israeli aggression
Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah articulated the critical challenges confronting Lebanon, framing the nation's choice not as one of factional politics, but as a fundamental struggle for national dignity and self-determination.
Speaking from the town of Burj Qalawiya, a region that has borne the brunt of Israeli aggression, Fadlallah outlined the triad of challenges facing the nation: the ongoing Israeli assaults, the monumental task of reconstruction, and the imperative of safeguarding internal stability. He positioned the Lebanese people as facing a definitive choice: to resist the encroachment on their sovereignty or to capitulate to an enemy that continues to shed Lebanese blood with impunity.
“There are those who want to put us before this choice — either surrender to the enemy with its daily killings, sieges, and aggression, or submit and abandon our sovereignty,” Fadlallah stated. “But no matter how much blood is shed, we will not surrender. We know that the situation is difficult, but challenges and threats will not bring us down. We must endure.”
The MP issued a stern warning against political elements within Lebanon that he accused of aligning themselves with the Israeli agenda, thereby deepening national divisions. He criticized those who he said are exploiting the suffering of the Lebanese people for narrow political gains.
“Unfortunately, there are those within Lebanon who believe that the enemy, in its targeting, is helping them achieve their internal goals,” he said. “They are investing in the blood of our people for their own ambitions of power and control. These people have not learned from history — the enemy uses some voices to advance its plans, then abandons them once its objectives are achieved.”
Fadlallah emphasized that the Lebanese state must actively fulfill its primary duty: protecting its citizens and territory. He pointed to the official committee overseeing the ceasefire as a mechanism through which the government must exert maximum pressure to halt Israeli violations.
“This committee exists and bears responsibility. Through it, the government can exert pressure to stop the attacks,” he noted, adding that it is impossible to move forward when only one side is respecting the terms of existing agreements.
He directly challenged the narrative that the state should have a monopoly on decisions of war and peace, asking, “When did this state make a decision to defend itself against this enemy? We reject any decision that leads to surrender.” He called on the government to move beyond empty slogans and actually implement its own ministerial statement, which commits to protecting sovereignty, deterring the aggressor, pursuing reconstruction, and securing the release of Lebanese prisoners.
Fadlallah urgently called for all Lebanese parties to recognize that the true adversary is external, not internal. He warned against turning the national crisis into a fratricidal conflict, which would only serve the interests of the enemy.
“Our problem is not with each other — it is with the enemy. No one in Lebanon should act as an echo of the enemy’s missiles or exploit this aggression through campaigns of incitement and misinformation,” he declared.
Concluding with a firm commitment to Lebanon's sovereign path, Fadlallah affirmed that the will of the Lebanese people, forged in resistance and a desire for true independence, cannot be sidelined by external pressures or internal maneuvers.
“No one can change the internal equation, no matter how much they rely on external forces or how much blood is spilled on our land,” he asserted. “We will not accept, nor allow, anyone to infringe upon our partnership, our presence, or our role in managing the state and determining the fate of the country. This is the will of the people — and no one can bypass it.” (ILKHA)
