Hezbollah unveils advanced fiber-optic drone in strikes on Israeli targets
The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah has reportedly introduced a new generation of advanced fiber-optic guided FPV drones in its ongoing confrontation along the northern front, marking a significant development in its military capabilities.
According to Israeli media outlets, including Channel 14, one of these drones was launched toward the city of Kiryat Shmona as part of a broader operation involving dozens of unmanned aerial systems.
The drone, described as a fiber-optic guided model, represents a notable technological advancement. Unlike conventional drones, it is reportedly resistant to electronic warfare measures such as jamming or GPS interference, due to its reliance on a physical fiber-optic cable for guidance. This allows for a high degree of precision and operational control even in heavily contested environments.
Military analysts suggest that such drones are also harder to detect and capable of complex maneuvering, including navigating confined spaces. Reports indicate that the platform can carry a payload of several kilograms and operate across distances extending tens of kilometers.
The deployment came as part of a wider barrage of approximately 40 drones launched toward northern Israeli positions. One of the drones reportedly crashed in a yard in Kiryat Shmona without causing casualties, though the incident has drawn significant attention from Israeli military authorities.
Observers view this development as a clear indication of Hezbollah’s evolving tactical doctrine and its ability to integrate advanced technologies into its arsenal. The use of fiber-optic guidance systems, previously noted in other conflict zones, is seen as enhancing operational effectiveness against technologically advanced adversaries.
Israeli occupation forces have launched an investigation into the incident, as tensions along the Lebanese border continue to escalate. Meanwhile, the introduction of such capabilities underscores what many analysts describe as a shifting balance in the technological dimension of the confrontation.
For supporters of the resistance, the development is seen as further evidence of Hezbollah’s preparedness and adaptability in defending Lebanon, reinforcing a deterrence equation that continues to shape the dynamics of the conflict along the northern front. (ILKHA)
