Iran downs Israeli jets after attacks kill scientists, civilians

The Iranian Army announced it had successfully targeted and hit Israeli fighter jets that violated the country’s airspace.
According to the official media outlet of Iran’s armed forces, this operation occurred during an intense confrontation between Iranian defense units and hostile aerial threats from Israel.
The Iranian military confirmed that its defense systems managed to intercept and destroy a number of incoming projectiles, micro air vehicles, and unmanned aerial systems. In what the military described as a "successful operation," Israeli fighter jets were among the targets struck.
The incident came amid a broader escalation of hostilities. Since the early hours of Friday, Israeli forces have carried out a series of airstrikes across Iran, with reported targets in the capital city of Tehran, as well as in Tabriz in the northwest, Khorramabad, Kermanshah, Boroujerd in the west, and the central city of Natanz.
The Iranian government reported casualties resulting from these attacks, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians. The extent of the damage and the full number of casualties are still being assessed.
In response to the strikes, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, issued a statement on Friday morning condemning the attacks. He described the Israeli actions as criminal and accused the Tel Aviv regime of revealing its “vile nature” through such aggression. He warned that Israel should expect “a severe punishment” in retaliation. (ILKHA)
