Iranian military chief warns of severe response to any hostile act
Iran has revised its military doctrine and shifted toward a more offensive posture following the 12-day war in June 2025, the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, announced, warning that any miscalculation by the country’s enemies would trigger swift and decisive action by Tehran.
Speaking during a nighttime inspection visit to assess the combat readiness of one of the Armed Forces’ units, General Mousavi said the war, which he described as having been imposed by the United States and the Israeli regime, marked a turning point in Iran’s military strategy. He stressed that Iran’s response to the conflict remains unfinished, warning that the “blood vengeance of the 13th day” has yet to be settled.
“Even the smallest mistake by the enemy will give Iran free rein to take action,” Mousavi said, adding that the world would soon witness a different face of a strong and determined Iran.
The senior commander cautioned that any future confrontation would have far-reaching consequences, stating that in such a scenario “no American would feel secure” and that the flames of a regional conflict would engulf the United States and its allies.
Addressing threats of imposing a naval blockade on Iran, Mousavi dismissed such notions as unrealistic, advising those who promote them to revisit basic principles of geography and geopolitics. He emphasized that Iran is a vast and powerful country that cannot be besieged or isolated.
Mousavi confirmed that following the 12-day war, Iran conducted a comprehensive review of its military posture, resulting in a shift from a primarily defensive doctrine to an offensive one. He explained that the new doctrine is built on rapid and sustained operations, relying on diverse and crushing military strategies designed to overwhelm adversaries.
Iran’s actions under the revised doctrine, he said, would be swift, decisive, and outside the framework of U.S. strategic calculations, underscoring that Tehran would not show the slightest negligence in confronting threats to its sovereignty and security.
The remarks came a day after Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei issued a stark warning, saying that any new war initiated by the United States would inevitably escalate into a broader regional conflict.
“Americans should know that if they start a war this time, it would be a regional war,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Iranian officials have repeatedly stressed that while the country does not seek war, it remains fully prepared to respond forcefully to any act of aggression. (ILKHA)
