IRGC forces kill five Jaish al-Adl members, rescue kidnapped engineer in southeastern Iran
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force has killed five members of a kidnapping team affiliated with the terrorist group Jaish al-Adl and rescued a construction project engineer in southeastern Iran, according to an IRGC statement.
The operation was carried out by personnel from the IRGC Ground Force's Quds Base in the Kourin area of Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, the statement said.
According to the statement, the group abducted the engineer in western Zahedan on Monday and planned to transfer him to a neighboring country.
Following the abduction, IRGC personnel used intelligence operations to locate the kidnappers' hideout in Kourin before launching a surprise raid, the statement added.
Five members of the kidnapping team were killed during the operation, while the abducted engineer was rescued.
One IRGC serviceman was also killed in the clashes, according to the statement.
The IRGC said clashes with other members of the group were continuing at the time of the announcement.
Jaish al-Adl is an armed group operating primarily in Iran's southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan Province, a region bordering Pakistan and Afghanistan that has experienced repeated attacks on Iranian security forces. (ILKHA)
