The Israel regime has continued its occupation and military activities in southern Syria, with new incursions reported in the countryside of Quneitra, Daraa and rural Damascus. The latest operation saw occupation forces establish a temporary checkpoint in Quneitra, while artillery shelling and heavy machine-gun fire targeted residential areas in western Daraa.

Local sources said violations by the occupation forces have become an almost daily occurrence, particularly in the governorates of Quneitra, Daraa and rural Damascus.

Around 10 military vehicles entered the countryside of Quneitra and advanced to the junction leading to the village of Rasm al-Halabi, where occupation forces set up a checkpoint and searched passing civilians and vehicles. No arrests or injuries were reported during the operation.

Artillery fire targets western Daraa

In the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa, the surroundings of Jamlah and Abidin came under artillery bombardment. Heavy machine-gun fire was also reported from occupation positions in the occupied Golan Heights, while illumination flares were fired over the area.

Local sources said the Abidin and Raqqad valleys, along with the outskirts of Jamlah village, were struck by several artillery shells. No casualties had been reported at the time of publication. Residents said occupation forces had previously targeted the same areas with heavy machine-gun fire.

Dozens of military incursions recorded this month

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 45 military incursions and other activities by the occupation forces were documented across Syrian territory during the first two weeks of September. Most incidents occurred in Quneitra, Daraa and rural Damascus, including entries into villages and residential areas, house raids, searches, temporary checkpoints and the detention of civilians.

A separate local monitoring report said occupation-related violations in Syria reached 267 during August, representing a 43 percent increase compared with 187 recorded in July. The report added that 1,752 violations had been documented between the beginning of 2026 and the end of August.

The occupation forces expanded their military presence in parts of southern Syria following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad government in December 2024, saying the deployments were intended to protect border security and prevent armed groups from approaching the occupied Golan Heights. Syria has repeatedly condemned the operations as violations of its sovereignty and of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, while the United Nations has called on all parties to respect the agreement and avoid actions that could escalate tensions.(ILKHA)
