Israeli aggression in Gaza pushes death toll to 73,221 as ceasefire violations continue
The Palestinian death toll from Israel’s ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip has climbed to 73,221 martyrs, with 173,643 others wounded since October 7, 2023, according to medical sources in the enclave on Saturday.
In just the past 24 hours, hospitals received seven more bodies — including one recovered from under the rubble — along with 28 injured Palestinians, as Israel’s military operations persist in the besieged territory.
Since the ceasefire took effect on October 11 last year, Israeli attacks have still claimed the lives of 1,098 Palestinians and injured 3,535 others.
During this period, 800 bodies have been recovered from the devastated landscape, many of them civilians killed in continued strikes and bombardment.
Medical sources warned that a large number of victims remain trapped beneath collapsed buildings and lying in the streets, with ambulance and civil defense teams unable to reach them due to ongoing insecurity and Israeli restrictions. This leaves families in agony, waiting for news of loved ones lost under the rubble of their homes.
The relentless Israeli aggression has created a humanitarian nightmare in Gaza, where entire neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble, and the Palestinian people continue to endure immense suffering, loss, and trauma. Despite the declared ceasefire, the persistent violence and obstruction of rescue efforts highlight Israel’s disregard for Palestinian lives and international calls for de-escalation.
As the death toll rises daily, the international community faces increasing pressure to hold Israel accountable for a systematic campaign of destruction against the Palestinian population in Gaza. (ILKHA)
