Israeli analyst questions Tel Aviv’s war strategy, warns of Iran’s resolve

A prominent Israeli analyst has publicly criticized the Israeli government’s escalation against Iran, warning that Tehran’s strategic patience and resilience could bring serious consequences for the occupation regime.
Yossi Melman, a well-known Israeli intelligence and security commentator, took to social media platform X following Iran’s powerful retaliatory strikes, questioning the wisdom of Tel Aviv’s decision to provoke a war. “Was it even necessary to start a war, especially against the Iranians?” he asked.
Melman acknowledged what many observers across the region have long emphasized: Iran’s unmatched capacity for endurance and sacrifice in the face of aggression. He referred to Iran’s eight-year war with Iraq in the 1980s, during which the Islamic Republic, under immense international pressure and military attack, stood its ground and defended its sovereignty.
Highlighting the grave miscalculation by Israeli leadership, Melman called on the regime to “cut our losses” and urged them to seek intervention from former U.S. President Donald Trump in pursuit of a diplomatic solution. “Turn to Trump to stop the madness with a reasonable agreement,” he wrote.
Melman warned that if Israeli leaders persist in their reckless path, they risk ending up “begging for a ceasefire and Iran will refuse,” signaling a growing sense of defeatism within Israeli political and military circles.
His rare candid critique underscores growing unease inside Israel as Iran’s calibrated and forceful response continues to expose the limits of Israeli military supremacy. Analysts suggest that Iran’s show of strength is altering regional power dynamics, forcing even Israeli voices to question the long-term viability of continued aggression. (ILKHA)
