Israeli attacks kill four Palestinians, including 12-year-old child, in Gaza
Four Palestinian civilians, including a 12-year-old child and a woman, were martyred and several others wounded in fresh attacks by Israeli occupation forces across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, amid continued violations of the ceasefire agreement.
According to local media reports, 12-year-old Adnan al-Qirnawi was shot dead by Israeli forces in the eastern part of al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.
Two other Palestinians were killed in separate Israeli drone strikes in the town of az-Zawayda, also in central Gaza. Medical sources identified one of the victims as 27-year-old Abdul Rahim Walid Matar, who was killed when a drone fired two missiles at a tent sheltering displaced Palestinians west of the town.
In southern Gaza, 54-year-old Noura al-Eid was killed by Israeli gunfire in the Bir 19 area. Reports said she was among civilians exposed to Israeli fire in areas close to the so-called Yellow Line, beyond which Israeli forces are deployed.
Separate attacks across the Strip left several other Palestinians injured, including two whose conditions were reported to be critical.
Israeli military activity continued in several areas, with local sources reporting heavy gunfire, artillery shelling, drone activity and the demolition of homes and civilian structures. Israeli naval vessels also reportedly fired towards Gaza City's coastline, while military vehicles opened fire in areas east of al-Maghazi refugee camp.
The latest attacks came as Palestinians continue to face deadly Israeli assaults despite the ceasefire that took effect on October 10, 2025.
According to figures released by Gaza's Health Ministry on Wednesday, Israeli attacks have killed 1,602 Palestinians and wounded another 5,794 since the ceasefire began. The overall death toll from Israel's assault on Gaza since October 2023 has reached at least 74,618, with 175,920 people wounded, according to the figures reported by Al Jazeera.
The United Nations has repeatedly warned that the ceasefire has not brought an end to civilian deaths or displacement. In an October assessment marking one year since the ceasefire announcement, the UN Human Rights Office said it had verified 1,076 conflict-related deaths between October 2025 and the end of July 2026, including 268 children and 126 women.
The UN also raised serious concerns over Israeli fire near the so-called Yellow Line, noting that Palestinians had been killed while carrying out ordinary civilian activities, including inside their tents. It warned that attacks on civilians who are not directly participating in hostilities may constitute war crimes.
Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians remain displaced, many living in overcrowded tents and makeshift shelters after widespread destruction of homes and civilian infrastructure.
The continued killings, destruction and restrictions on humanitarian assistance have left Gaza's population facing an ongoing humanitarian catastrophe, with the ceasefire failing to provide the safety and stability urgently needed by civilians. (ILKHA)
