Israeli drone strike kills one in Southern Lebanon
An Israeli occupation drone targeted a civilian vehicle in southern Lebanon on Monday, killing one person in a new act of aggression that violates the existing ceasefire and heightens regional tensions.
According to local sources, the attack took place near the town of al-Baysariyeh, in the Saida district. The vehicle was completely burned after being hit by multiple missiles launched by the drone, leaving the driver dead at the scene.
Lebanon’s National News Agency “Al-Watania” and local correspondents reported that the drone fired three missiles at the car. The attack occurred on the road between al-Baysariyeh and nearby villages, an area that has witnessed repeated Israeli violations in recent weeks.
The incident marks part of a growing pattern of near-daily Israeli assaults targeting civilian areas and vehicles in southern Lebanon. Witnesses described the scene as one of total destruction, with rescue teams struggling to reach the site amid fears of renewed strikes.
Monday’s strike came just a day after Israeli drones targeted the towns of Humin al-Foqa, Survane, and Khirbet Selm, killing two Lebanese citizens and injuring several others.
Al Mayadeen’s correspondent confirmed that two powerful explosions were also reported overnight in the Sabih neighborhood near the town of Houla, caused by Israeli occupation forces demolishing three residential houses.
These attacks represent yet another breach of the November 2024 ceasefire agreement between the Israeli occupation and the Lebanese resistance. Observers warn that such violations could push the region into a wider confrontation if the escalation continues.
Local analysts note that Israel’s ongoing drone strikes and air operations across Lebanon aim to pressure the resistance and test the limits of the truce, while maintaining an atmosphere of constant threat in the southern border towns.
The Israeli occupation army has not commented on the latest incident. Lebanese officials and media sources, however, described the assault as a clear violation of Lebanese sovereignty and international law, emphasizing that the civilian population continues to pay the price of Israel’s aggression.(ILKHA)
