Israeli forces kill Palestinian and injure another in West Bank
A Palestinian man was killed and another wounded on Thursday after Israeli forces opened fire in the village of Al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya, located south of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, local sources reported.
The village council said that 26-year-old Khattab Mohammad Ismail Al-Sarhan Daraghmeh succumbed to serious gunshot wounds sustained earlier in the day during the incident. The Palestinian Civil Affairs Authority later informed the Ministry of Health of Daraghmeh’s death, noting that Israeli authorities are withholding his body.
According to local residents, Daraghmeh was shot near the southern entrance of the village along the Nablus–Ramallah road, an area frequently subjected to Israeli military activity. During the same incident, another young Palestinian was injured by live fire. His condition was described as stable, and he was transferred to Salfit Governmental Hospital for medical treatment.
The killing adds to the growing toll of Palestinian casualties in the occupied West Bank amid ongoing Israeli military operations, which have intensified in recent months. Human rights groups have repeatedly raised concerns over the use of live ammunition against Palestinians and the practice of withholding bodies, describing both as violations of international humanitarian law.
Tensions remain high across the West Bank as Israeli forces continue raids, shootings, and arrests, particularly around towns and villages near main roads and checkpoints. (ILKHA)
