Israeli occupation forces resume attacks on Gaza despite ceasefire
Israeli occupation forces reportedly launched new attacks in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, with local sources detailing shelling, gunfire, and controlled demolitions that have cast doubt on the durability of the ceasefire.
The agreement, which officially took effect on October 10, 2025, appears to be facing significant strain as violence flared in multiple areas of the besieged enclave.
According to Palestinian sources on the ground, Israeli artillery units targeted neighborhoods east of Gaza City. Armored vehicles were also reported to have unleashed heavy gunfire toward civilian areas in the same region.
The assaults were not isolated. The outskirts of the densely populated Shuja’iya neighborhood, an area already heavily damaged by previous offensives, were also struck by bombardment. Further south, Israeli military vehicles opened fire east of Khan Yunis, while the sound of massive explosions from the deliberate demolition of Palestinian homes echoed across the region.
These latest incidents form part of a pattern of reported violations since the truce began. According to local authorities, Israel's persistent military actions have resulted in the deaths of more than 274 Palestinians and left hundreds more wounded since the ceasefire was supposed to take hold.
Humanitarian observers have condemned the ongoing violence, stating that the attacks prove Israel's commitment to the ceasefire is superficial. They argue that the continued operations amount to a facade, allowing the Israeli occupation to continue targeting Palestinian civilians with impunity, thereby deepening the humanitarian crisis and suffering in Gaza under a prolonged siege.
The recent events have raised urgent questions about the viability of the truce and the international community's ability to enforce a lasting peace. (ILKHA)
