Massive fire breaks out at Tokyo elementary school, 300 people evacuated
An elementary school in northern Tokyo was evacuated after a fire broke out inside a classroom, with several students reportedly suffering minor injuries from smoke inhalation.
According to Japanese media reports, the fire started on Friday in a music classroom located on the fourth floor of Takinogawa Daisan Elementary School.
Emergency crews, including firefighters and medical personnel, were dispatched to the scene after authorities received reports of the blaze.
Public broadcaster NHK reported that around 300 students and staff members were on the school premises at the time of the incident. All occupants were evacuated as a precaution while emergency teams worked to contain the fire.
Several students were reportedly affected by smoke and received medical attention. Authorities have not released detailed information regarding the extent of their injuries.
