The death toll from severe flooding in Nepal’s Rasuwa district near the Chinese border and surrounding areas has risen to 1,114, while nearly 4,000 people remain missing, according to Nepal’s disaster management authorities.

Search and rescue operations are continuing in several flood-hit areas as emergency teams work to locate missing people and assist affected communities.

Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) said in an update shared on social media that the number of fatalities had increased to 1,114 following the disaster.

Thousands missing, rescue efforts continue

The authority said around 4,000 people were still missing, while more than 20,000 security personnel have been deployed to support rescue operations.

Officials reported that rescue teams have so far recovered and assisted 11,993 people affected by the floods.

The floods have caused widespread damage in areas near Nepal’s northern border, with authorities continuing efforts to reach remote locations and provide emergency assistance to survivors.(ILKHA)
