HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu has described the spirit of the Victory of Manzikert as an expression of Islamic brotherhood and a shared sense of destiny among Muslims, emphasizing the historical bonds between Turkish, Kurdish and Arab communities.

Yapıcıoğlu, who attended events in Ahlat, Bitlis, marking the 955th anniversary of the 1071 Malazgirt Victory, shared a message on social media highlighting the religious and historical significance of the battle.

He said the victory should be understood not through tribal or ethnic divisions, but through the common Islamic identity that brought different Muslim communities together.

Yapıcıoğlu argued that the Islamization of Anatolia, which he said had begun during the period of Caliph Umar, was strengthened by the Malazgirt Victory.

“The Islamization process of Anatolia, which began during the time of Hz. Ömer, was solidified by this blessed victory; Islam, our common denominator, has made us brothers and turned these lands into a thousand-year common homeland for all of us.”

He described Malazgirt as an epic created through the cooperation and shared destiny of Turkish, Kurdish and Arab Muslims.

“Malazgirt is a magnificent epic written by Turkish, Kurdish, and Arab Muslims on the basis of Islamic brotherhood, with a shared destiny and ummah consciousness,” he said.

The HÜDA PAR leader also linked the historical legacy of Malazgirt to Türkiye’s contemporary political and social future.

Yapıcıoğlu said the principles of solidarity and brotherhood represented by the victory should remain central to efforts to build what he described as the “Century of Türkiye.”

“The real power that will build the Century of Türkiye is this deep-rooted spirit of brotherhood that was embodied at Malazgirt,” he said.

His remarks placed particular emphasis on overcoming ethnic and tribal divisions through a common Islamic identity, presenting brotherhood and shared historical experience as important foundations for Türkiye’s future.

Yapıcıoğlu concluded his message by commemorating those who fought and died in the struggle for what he described as the exaltation of the word of Allah, or İ’lâ-yı Kelimetullah.

“I remember with mercy, gratitude, and prayer all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives on this blessed path and our veterans who have passed on to the afterlife,” he said.

The remarks came as Türkiye marked the 955th anniversary of the Battle of Malazgirt, with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and senior political figures participating in commemorations in Ahlat.

The anniversary has once again placed emphasis on Malazgirt’s historical significance as a turning point in the establishment of Muslim political and cultural presence in Anatolia, while political leaders have used the occasion to underline themes of national unity, solidarity and a shared future.
