At least 15 people, including five police officers, were killed in a car bomb attack targeting a mosque inside a police facility in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, according to officials.

The attack took place at a mosque located inside the Police Lines area in Kohat district, where a vehicle loaded with explosives crashed into the building and detonated.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police officials said the explosion caused major damage to the mosque, while rescue teams were dispatched to the scene to search for survivors trapped under the rubble.

At least 15 people were killed and dozens of others were injured in the blast. The wounded were transferred to nearby hospitals for treatment, while emergency teams continued rescue operations.

Footage shared on social media showed parts of the mosque collapsing after the powerful explosion, with people attempting to rescue those trapped beneath the debris.

Security forces launched an investigation into the attack. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the bombing.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has frequently witnessed attacks targeting security forces and civilians in recent years, particularly in districts near the Afghan border.(ILKHA)
