Poland scrambles fighter jets in response to Russian missile attacks on Ukraine

The Polish military took swift action after Russia conducted strikes using ballistic and cruise missiles in western Ukraine, according to a statement from the RSZ Operational Command on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Polish Armed Forces, part of NATO, reported that due to Russia's military operations, including the use of cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and drones, Russian forces had encroached into Polish airspace. As a precautionary measure, Poland scrambled its fighter jets to ensure the security of its airspace.
"Attention, due to another attack by the Russian Federation using cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles on objects located, among others, in western Ukraine, military aviation has begun operating in our airspace. In accordance with applicable procedures, the Operational Commander of the RSZ has activated all available forces and resources at his disposal, the duty fighter pairs have been scrambled, and the ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest state of readiness," the RSZ Operational Command said.
The command emphasized that these steps were taken to secure areas adjacent to those under threat. They are continuously monitoring the situation, ensuring that all forces remain at full readiness for an immediate response if needed.
This response came after Russia launched an extensive overnight aerial assault on Ukraine, focusing on its power infrastructure with cruise missiles and drones. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that among the weapons used were Kinzhal ballistic missiles targeting Ukraine's western regions. (ILKHA)
