Russia strikes transport and military logistics sites in Kyiv, southern Ukraine
Russian forces carried out overnight strikes targeting transport, logistics and military supply infrastructure in Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed on Saturday.
The ministry said the operation involved precision-guided ground-launched weapons and long-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), targeting facilities that Moscow claims were being used to support Ukrainian military operations.
“This night, the Russian Armed Forces launched a strike using ground-based precision weapons and long-range unmanned aerial vehicles against a transport infrastructure facility and a logistics center in Kyiv and the Kyiv Region,” the ministry said in a statement.
Among the reported targets was the Darnytsia railway depot in Kyiv. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the facility maintained locomotives used to transport military equipment for Ukrainian forces.
A major Nova Post logistics facility in the Kyiv region was also reportedly struck. The ministry claimed the site contained components and assembled products used in the production of drones.
In southern Ukraine, Russian forces reportedly targeted storage facilities and fuel infrastructure serving the Ukrainian military at the Black Sea ports of Chornomorsk and Yuzhny, according to the statement.
The reported strikes came amid another night of intensified long-range attacks between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides continuing to target infrastructure and military-related facilities deep behind the front lines.
Separately, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed hundreds of Ukrainian drones over Russian territory overnight.
“Over the past night, air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 457 Ukrainian aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles,” the ministry said.
The Russian Defense Ministry did not immediately provide a detailed breakdown of the targets reportedly pursued by the Ukrainian drones or the extent of damage caused by drones that may have penetrated Russian air defenses.
The claims by the Russian Defense Ministry could not be independently verified. (ILKHA)
