A tanker was hit by an unmanned aerial vehicle while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), which said the vessel sustained minor damage and all crew members remained safe.
UKMTO said it received a report of an incident involving a tanker while it was leaving the Strait of Hormuz. According to information provided by military authorities, the vessel was struck by a drone during its passage through the strategic waterway.
The agency said the tanker suffered minor damage but did not provide details about the vessel’s name or the identity of those responsible for the incident.
UKMTO confirmed that the crew were safe and fully accounted for.
The Strait of Hormuz, located between Iran and Oman, is one of the world's most important energy transit routes, with a significant portion of global oil and gas shipments passing through the waterway.(ILKHA)
