Ten new health facilities inaugurated in Afghanistan's Nangarhar province
Ten new health facilities have been inaugurated in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province as part of ongoing efforts to improve access to healthcare services and strengthen the country's public health infrastructure.
According to the Nangarhar provincial administration, the facilities were established through a partnership with the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund (AHF) at a cost exceeding US$850,000.
The newly completed centres are now fully operational and will provide essential medical services to local communities, particularly in areas where access to healthcare has remained limited.
Comprehensive healthcare services
Provincial officials said each of the ten facilities offers a broad range of primary healthcare services, including outpatient consultations, maternal and child healthcare, nutrition support, mental health services, routine immunisation programmes and emergency treatment.
The centres are expected to reduce the burden on existing hospitals while improving access to preventive and primary healthcare for thousands of residents across the province.
Part of wider healthcare development
The inauguration comes as Afghanistan continues efforts to rebuild and expand its healthcare system after decades of war and instability.
In recent months, authorities have launched several healthcare projects across the country, including new hospitals and specialised medical facilities, as part of a broader strategy aimed at improving access to medical services in both urban and rural areas.
