Ukrainian drone attack in Russia’s Tver injures 7, damages residential building
A drone attack in the western Russian city of Tver injured seven people and caused significant damage to a residential building early Friday morning.
Acting Tver Governor Vitaly Korolev confirmed that among the injured was a child, all of whom were transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Local sources reported that the drone struck the lower section of a multi-story apartment building, triggering a fire that residents initially attempted to contain before emergency teams arrived.
Witnesses said the explosion occurred during the early hours, prompting residents to flee the building, some still in their sleepwear, as smoke filled the stairwells. At least four apartments and several vehicles parked nearby sustained damage from the blast.
Footage circulating on local media showed residents gathering on the street in shock as firefighting crews worked to extinguish the blaze. Neighbors also assisted in evacuating elderly occupants and families with children from the affected floors.
While regional authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, cleanup and safety inspections are underway to determine the structural condition of the building and whether residents can return to their homes.
Local officials stated that support will be provided to affected families.(ILKHA)
